Following up on my last post, this was shot a few moments later. It lasted for a fleeting few seconds but I could see the conditions setting up so we waited it out knowing the storm was coming fast. Within seconds of pushing the shutter the wind started to rage & cold rain started to pour... not just any rain, but an Autumn Colorado thunderstorm that quickly pushed over the 14,000 ft mountains & drenched you within seconds. Cameras, clothes and pretty much every inch of sand was soaked. The ride back was character building to say the least as lightning cracked and we quickly got off the dune field since it’s a favorable location to get struck. My horse Merlin was a good sport but eager to get to safe ground. Check out photos 2 & 3 for some behind the scenes.
