As some Republican senators call for the estate tax to be eliminated, Sen. Bernie Sanders has another idea in mind.
The Democratic senator plans to propose an expanded estate tax plan, saying it is the “fairest way to reduce wealth inequality, invest in the disappearing middle class and preserve our democracy.” The proposed plan would implement a 45% tax on those who inherit more than $3.5 million. Anyone who inherits more than $1 billion would be subjected to a 77% tax.
