Last-second flight to see somebody I love because... well, her prognosis wasn’t good. Isn’t hopeful. At least according to the doctors. But I guess “good” is really what we choose to make of it all, though, right? Otherwise, we’re just victims of circumstance, dependent on a diagnosis, or some other external “reality” for peace of mind, whereas the truth -the real truth- is that peace of mind is a state of mind... and can come at any time. It’s ultimately our choice, isn’t it? And then, of course... there’s the emotional roller coaster... which is also valid and real, and sometimes we just have to let that movie play out, and acknowledge those feelings so that our body doesn’t have to hold onto them. And somewhere, in the middle of all that, looking for the balance... is us. Life is a crazy thing to get to experience... thank god we weren’t designed to go through it alone.
