This months ‘national parks getaway’ is Muir Woods, just outside San Francisco. I first went there about 15 years ago, and immediately found it to be the holiest place I’d ever been to(I think it’s much much easier to find the divine in a living forest than in a dead building). Even the groups of elementary school and junior high school students who were visiting were stunned into silence by the ancient grandeur and beauty of the towering redwoods. It’s a perfect, sacred monument to John Muir, the patron saint of the United States. “The clearest way into the universe is through a forest wilderness”-John Muir. @nationalparkservice @johnmuirnps #muirwoods
