Spent this afternoon discussing current affairs live on @talkradiouk with Richard Madeley, someone I grew up watching and admiring on TV (I also love Richard & Judy's book club.)! What's even cooler is I found out we both started out at BBC Radio Cumbria! He's so brilliant it was such a joy to watch him in action and be a part of his show. ❤️? One of the things we discussed was the new "small penis" emoji. I can't believe that a quantative hand gesture has got more media attention than the inclusion of disabilities and same-sex couples, and my favourite new emoji - the period one. We've still got a long way to go to break down taboos around periods (literally a natural thing to happen to a woman). The fact this emoji is being launched globally can help to destigmatize periods, especially for the girls in third-world countries who often miss out on education because of the lack of sanitary products and the shame around periods. Long live emojis. ❤️
