Those in power and aligned to the LAPD tried to repress the dissent of the courageous and awe-inspiring @docmellymel and those who protest against the daily injustices committed by the LAPD and the city of Los Angeles. The country has a despicable history of attempting to and actually silencing Black revolutionaries through many means. But they can’t do that when we have people power on our side. As I continue my fight for Black lives and for all those that are oppressed, I am also taking time to celebrate. As Melina says, “When we fight, we win!”

This morning, we marched into court led by a fearless legal team and supported by hundreds of folks in the courtroom and lobby. We said loudly, “No plea deal! We want the charges dropped. We have a right and a duty to fight for our people!” And WE WON!!!!
So deeply grateful to the tens of thousands of folks who stood up and demanded an end to the criminalization of Black protest. All praises to our Creator, our mightiest Ancestors, and those on whose behalf we struggle. Thank you to my family, to the Mama and Baba freedom fighters who walked before us, and to the beautiful family that I have gained through this work. I am so blessed to be a part of such a beloved community. Thank you for your unwavering support and tireless work.
