Video by @magnuswennman | How do our brains know when it is time to sleep? Why do we get tired? Why do we feel awake? Much of the reason comes down to light. Steven Lockley’s lab at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston does a variety of studies on sleep; among them are a few looking at the effect of light on our circadian rhythm. This film was shot through the hole of a Ganzfeld Dome. It is designed to create a full-field exposure to a single wavelength of light to study the spectral sensitivity and physiological responses in the brain to spectrums of light. One of the most important findings from this kind of research is that the blue wavelength has the most impact on our alertness.
