FW19 REFLECTION
Interpreting the process of creation, Yigal Azrouël’s Fall 2019 collection is the intimate reflection of the journey one takes to bring a creative vision to life. “The process is always more interesting for me than the end result. The way I work, I have a vision, but I don’t exactly know where it will lead me when I start to design. The mirror is key; observing through the reflection is important when considering proportion, movement, and the spirit the woman embodies when wearing my clothes. My vision might evolve as I begin to create, but by releasing control and trusting the energy of the process to guide me; that’s the real beauty of each collection for me.” This season’s pieces are enriched by the designers discerning eye for understated detail, developed through his storied career of architectural inspired design, exploration of juxtaposition, and innovative fabric development. Fabrications conceptualized through this collections process include variations of geometric wool plaid, electric blue oversized corduroy, and deconstructed leathers; all expressing the essence of the designer’s affinity for mixing masculine and feminine design elements. Equally prominent is the use of contrasting textures and Azrouël’s ability to mix unexpected combinations through modern design, draping techniques and exquisite artistry.
Ultimately it is the exploration through his intuitive approach to luxury for the women he designs for that drives Yigal Azrouël to create looks unparalleled in their minimalism and craftsmanship.
