Henri Matisse’s book ‘Jazz’ marked a radical new beginning in his career, when he abandoned painting in favour of paper ‘cut-outs’.⠀

Created when he was 74 years old and mostly bed-bound, these ‘cut-outs’ allowed Matisse to bring together his passions for lines and colour. He toiled over the ‘Jazz’ series for over a year and the book was met with immediate success.⠀
