Deforestation has devastated Sumatran orangutan populations. Only 14,600 of these animals are left due to palm plantations. Sumatran Orangutan Society and Orangutan Information Centre are working to combat this through reforestation efforts, including starting tree nurseries and training locals to nurture them. 6,000 palms have already been removed from protected forests!
