The Chemex, featured in James Bond’s breakfast scene in “From Russia With Love,” is the most successful of more than three hundred designs patented by German chemist turned designer Peter Schlumbohm. Schlumbohm adapted scientific principles to the development of domestic objects after immigrating to the US in 1935. His nonmechanical coffee maker was inspired by laboratory glassware. Learn about its chemically correct method of brewing in the Good Design Lab, and explore more iconic designs in #ValueofGoodDesign: mo.ma/gooddesign
