“It feels good to be lost in the right direction” ❤️?
When I was asked to go interrailing for work, aside from being delighted that my wish on a shooting star in Zanzibar for more travel opportunities came true, I was overwhelmed. I first went interrailing at 18, not only in summer but also on a total shoestring. As someone who hates the cold, where would I travel in February? My friends suggested I take advantage of winter and explore the cooler countries, but as beautiful as they may be, the thought didn't excite me. I planned the route around Paris (because it's free on the Eurostar on the Interrail pass), and Toulouse (because I used to live there), and Lisbon (because neither of us have been and it looks so colourful). The rest has been totally spontaneous and the last two places were actually your recommendations (San Sebastian and Salamanca - both our favourites) and we've had the best time. ❤️
My next worry was - were we too old to interrail? My feedback from loads of you was that you, like me, experienced it in your teens or early 20's as backpackers. Originally we planned to stay in hostels as I like to do, and as we did in Zanzibar, so we brought backpacks. However, I wanted to explore the benefits of doing it as a 30 year old, and because I'm being paid by @interraileu (not to do this post may I add), I decided to spend some money on boujee hotels just to experience another side to it. We're now on our 5th of 6 towns in 8 days, and the whole experience has surpassed all of my expectations. I've fallen in love with northern Spain, got to experience a night train (which we loved so much were doing again tonight) and got to travel so seamlessly through Europe. Plus, the weather has been amazing! Only a couple more days to go but I already can't wait to do another Interrail adventure. I'd LOVE to know if I've inspired you to travel by rail? ?❤️
