As a new mom that nourishes her baby and a full time athlete, milk has become an important part of my diet. Now more than ever the nutritional value of milk plays a large part of my recovery routine both after a workout and helping me feed Corinne. Chocolate milk is one of the best recovery drinks and tools I can use right now. It has protein, electrolytes, carbohydrates and is easily accessible for me. #AD I’ve teamed up with the Dairy Farmers of Ontario to spread the message on recharging with milk @rechargewithmilk @ontariodairy

Congratulations on being a new mom! Your baby is adorable. Everything you are saying about milk is simply not true however. I would urge you to become familiar with the works of T Colin Campbell and the China Study. He found that casein the protein found in milk is very dangerous for human health. It’s loaded with saturated fat, and choc milk especially is so high in sugar it’s equivalent to drinking a can of soda. Yikes. I saw in a previous post you mentioned taking care of your bone and joint health, drinking milk actually depletes calcium from your body which leads to osteoporosis. As a mom myself I can appreciate the effort to keep our babies healthy, but milk from a cow is doing a lot of harm. Dr. Esselstyn a prominent cardiologist out of Ohio found that when we expose children to cows milk it causes a thickening of the arteries, heart disease (Atherosclerosis) really begins in childhood. The whole foods plant based diet really does give us all the protein, calcium, vitamins and minerals we need to be strong, healthy and thriving and has the power to reverse disease and of course it’s better for the animals and the environment. Take care ❤️

Hey Melissa! I’m fellow wildcat! OP... OPEO... OPEONGO... LETS GO!!! You’ve done us proud. I’m on the fence about the milk. But I would like to posthumously nominate my mother Connie. In high school I was figure skating at a highly competitive level. Training in Ottawa at the Nepean sportsplex 5 days a week. Spin coaches, jump coaches, choreographers, off ice trainers, $400 blades, $800 boots and custom made dresses. I can’t count on one hand how many nights I slept in the family room at the Arnprior hospital, where she was a nurse working nights who needed to get me to practise in Ottawa by 8am. She was dedicated, she loved me and gave me every chance she could for me to achieve my dreams. I know she can’t win, but her nomination is merited.

@melissacorinneb Hey Melissa, it may be worth checking into the welfare of the dairy cows on the farms in Ontario. There’s some pretty surprising/unfortunate things happening to cows and their calves. Just a thought.
