with @CNBCMakeIt: Some Americans were surprised they owed the federal government money this tax season — but that’s not a problem for Amazon.
Amazon won’t be paying a dime in federal income taxes this year. This is the second tax season in a row that the e-commerce giant paid $0 to the federal government.
Amazon is valued at nearly $800 billion and brought in more than $230 billion in 2018 alone. But the tax man won’t be knocking on the company’s door due, in part, to a combination of tax credits and deductions.
In fact, the company is getting a $129 million tax refund.
To put that into perspective: Amazon is basically paying a -1% income tax rate this year.
