As @glennondoyle says, “there’s no such thing as other people’s children”. Several months ago when it came out that parents were being separated from their kiddos at the border, my heart broke. @together.rising reached out to their network (many of whom are you all) to ask for help. Within 9 hours, they raised over 4 million dollars from close to 77,000 different individual givers. Together Rising connected with Al Otro Lado to learn more about the situation, and were told that many of these parents had been deported without their children, often times being told that their kids were already back in the countries they’d fled from. They arrived in their country to discover that their kids were still in the US with no hope of getting back to them.

So, using the money raised by 77,000 givers, Together Rising, Al Otro Lado, and Justice in Motion gathered together to form a team to go and find the families whose cases seemed the most hopeless.

This weekend, they brought 29 families to the border and sat with them while they waited to begin the process to seek asylum so that they could get their babies back. After 12 hours of agonizing deliberation, all 29 parents were admitted across the border to begin the process.

There is now hope for these families to see their babies again because of the tireless work of @together.rising , @alotrolado_org , @fams2gether and Justice in motion.
