STEVE/Stevie is a 3 yr old neutered male 70 pound Aussie. He walks well on leash but prefers to walk in the shade. Also enjoys hiking paths, as long as you allow him time to smell the trees and shrubs. Does well inside cars, enjoys car rides and riding shotgun. He is a calm boy with a low to medium energy level, housebroken, crate trained, and well behaved in the house. All he wants to do is be nearby his human and play ball/fetch. He really loves to play fetch. The first thing he does when you wake him from a nap is run straight for the ball. He has been to a dog park but doesn’t really enjoy it as he gets startled by other dogs because he is deaf. Being deaf comes with some advantages such as he never freaks out if another dog barks at him while walking/hiking, during 4th of July, New Years, or major holidays, the noise doesn’t faze him. Would do best in a low-medium energy home, but also has the energy to keep up with you on a hike or even on a camping trip. He knows sit, down, wait, and go-to-your-room (crate) via hand gestures. He communicates his needs to relief himself by knocking on the kitchen door. He can be on the bossy side, so probably would do better with a younger female dog. He can be somewhat nervous / anxious around kids and meeting strangers, he needs some time to warm up and get comfortable, so an adult home that is on the quieter/calm side would be best.
