@マート・アラス on their first capsule collection in collaboration with @ディースクエアード called ‘Mert & Marcus 1994 x Dsquared2. ‘It was the year we discovered the building blocks of our creativity, our inspirations. It kind of has a sacred meaning for us. And, it was the year of freedom. Freedom in music, clothes, the way of the world. So, with this capsule collection, we sort of wanted to go back to that time and remind ourselves how free everything was.
Years ago, I went to Berlin for a while, and I met a few people that were very inspiring – they were musicians, poets. But they were very, very, very free, very liberal, and very stylish, very cool people… I was so inspired because they had literally no expensive clothes whatsoever, but they were all so stylish. So, the collection has that tendency, too. It was not just based on fashion, but it’s based on ideas and thoughts and creativity.’
