I’m having the best week learning about #sustainablefashion with @tribealive in #guatemala . We’ve met with the talented, artisan women in #Panajachel as they work with traditional backstrap weaving & natural dyes via the co-op @mayatraditions, we also learned about upcycled denim with @thenewdenimproject, and tomorrow we meet with more Guatemalan artisans to learn about the local sustainability of their work. These industries empower women so they can provide for their families as well as continue cultural textile traditions. It also is called #slowfashion - I love this trip not only because I’m learning, but bc I’m meeting the most passionate and soulful women. I love clothes, but I love meeting the women behind the clothes even more- listening to their stories and sharing their work!
