leeleeb82 - [ ] The other light bulb moment was your explanation of how chi flows out of the heart chakra and gets linked to another such that its flow is contingent upon him/her... this is LITERALLY my Achilles heel. The physical experience of love with the dopamine and oxytocin can become an overwhelming craving if the other person is intermittently reciprocating... that kind of reinforcement triggers preoccupation with, and clinging to, that person and the idea of that person. It’s the same innate governing neurobiological responses that cause people to continue gambling. Intermittent reinforcement causes the most robust response in humans to continue efforts of pursuit due to the uncertainty of the outcome and the chance that they my get what they are craving. My question to you is: How do you relax and release when experiencing this overwhelming urge? How do you open up to redirect the chi back into your body to move upwards instead of moving outward? I have repeatedly become distracted by this phenomenon and it derails me from my spiritual pursuits. I am fully committed to not allowing that to happen again... however I feel most alive when this intense connection happens with someone. How can you remain in relationship with a person with whom this phenomenon has arisen? There is a name for this: Limerence.

I want to extend my deepest gratitude to you for writing your books and creating your video course with Sounds True. I was first introduced to yoga and mindfulness in 2003 and have committed to learning and practicing periodically and inconsistently ever since. However, your books and online course in particular has absolutely touched my soul, has renewed my commitment to surrendering and radical acceptance and has provided the foundational understanding that has pushed me that last mile to a place of finally realizing and buying in 100% that the path must be the priority every moment, not just the moments that are convenient. I have lived a dual life, separating spirituality from “human” reality, and I now fully grasp why that will never provide the inner peace I so desire.

leeleeb82 - [ ] he only solution I have considered is walking away from someone when this phenomenon appears because history has demonstrated in my life that limerence in a relationship predicts a sudden tumultuous ending. So I wish to feel that alive without relying on another. I’m afraid I am not strong enough to disregard the experience when it happens, or to let it in and not cling to it.
