We do our best at Underground everyday to promote Women in music and any other field where we walk but as its International Womens Day then there is a special mention here for some of the the women who broke through in music in years before and those that are making a name for themselves today. From the book "So it Goes " by Kevin Cummins we have this great photo of Ari Up of The Slits at The Oaks in Chorlton, Manchester 1977. Credit to Cummins as the book is laden with a good number of girls in punk including Siouxsie, Gaye Advert, Poly Styrene, Patti Smith, Blondie and Linder Sterling . We have a few signed copies of the book at our London store.⁣
