I had to make a phone call today that I was not looking forward to. A couple weeks ago my good friend/mentor, and master blacksmith Uri Hofi had to have his lower leg amputated. I know he walked with a pretty good shuffle/limp and was in quite a bit of pain for a long long time. It was definitely no small surgery for a gentleman that’s pushing 90 years old. He answered the phone with his usual deep voiced “Hello Jesse”. I was fully prepared to commiserate with him thinking his blacksmithing days most likely over. Instead he told me that he felt absolutely no pain at all when they cut his leg off. He also said he felt good and still had another 4 weeks until he got his prosthetic. Then he will be back in the shop. As if this badass couldn’t be an even bigger Hero! Definitely proves Hard Work builds tough Mofo’s!
So if you’re reading this please post up some Get Well wishes for Uri Hofi. (Even though he doesn’t seem to need any) I’m sure he will dig reading them. #jessejames
