i wrote a piece for @Huffington Post - “my life of red carpets, tv shows... and losing a tooth from purging!” where i come out about my history with disordered eating. i really wanted to show some truth (and hopefully some humor) about eating disorders.

My mom read your article and she said it was really good. She told me that I don't get the humor because I'm not a female. She told me some stories of being roomates with and being friends with people with EDs. It really sucks that as a kid for you food meant something that had negative connotations to it and for me I have all these great memories that center around food. I loved my childhood and there are certain foods and even old food commercials that bring back happy memories. I had such a great childhood that since then life has been pretty depressing for me. Like Toys R Us closing was for Scotty kind of depressing. And for you life now is way better than when you were a child from what I gather. It's just interesting the difference in your perspective and mine when it comes to comparing childhood to now. I know I don't have an eating disorder but I know my relationship to food isn't the best because of depression and other things and even tho my pain within the last 10 years might not be close to what yours was for 14 years. The opposite trend fascinates me. @jennettemccurdy

To be able to come forward and open up like this shows incredible strength and bravery. Some people will understand what you went through others will judge you. As along as you stick to your beliefs and surround yourself with family and great friends there is nothing you can not overcome. I know that this article will inspire others to seek help with whatever problems they have. Even if one person gets help because of what you have written well then that is reason enough to smile.

I just read this today and can’t appreciate you enough for having written it. You are one of my favorite actresses on Nick growing up - not only for the fried chicken lines - but as the unapologetic, female cast member who delivered wit and gall in each line that was truly lacking at the time. I resonated with her the most.
I’ve had the same relationship and struggles with food and my brain. Thank you for sharing your journey. Keep on keepin’ on lady!

I'm so grateful for your honesty and openness about such an in-the-dark topic, we truly need it... I feel slightly ashamed as I'm typing this from my thinspo account, but i think im finally ready to take a first step and at least delete my postings. Its a sick cycle i hope we all can be liberated from some.da

Thank you @jennettemccurdy so fucking much for this. I have never been able to relate to an article on disordered eating more in my life. The voice never stops, but my ears are tuned differently now. Well written, responsibly written and honest. Thank you ❤️

Really inspiring vulnerability you’ve shown here! Thank you. Also, just to reassure you: most individuals with anorexia go on to have episodes of binge eating - it’s your body’s way of trying to get the nourishment it is being deprived of! 🦋
