This is an important one for me: . This book is called The Eye, How The World’s Most Influencial Creative Directors Develop Their Vision. I’m part of it. With some of my idols @driesvannoten , Christian Dior, Franca Sozzani & more legendary names. . For once in my life, I’m not surprised - I’m honored to be recognized as an important figure, who shaped the world as it is today. . It took a long time for me to accept honors. When I got my CFDA award, presented by @pharrell , whom I had invited & had accepted my request (?) I thought it was a happy accident. I’m this weird outsider. It’s chance. It’s timing. It was not impostor syndrome. Just “how tf did a girl from Corsica get so lucky”. . Yet over the years, I started recognizing the influence of my work. . I helped illustration get back. I was one of the first streetstyle photographers, photographing women on the street just the way they were & pushing that new vision of style worldwide. At first, I got so much shit about talking about luxury online. No brand wanted anything to do with it. But to me this was clear. So I created bridges. I was the first blogger to sit front row. It was not easy. Fashion was buttoned up in its safe space. I created a NYT best seller that is translated in 16 languages & is still going strong - after 4 years! Oh also, I’m French - I did all of this in English - yes, even the book. . I had no plan. I just did what I believed in. . When I saw a new generation of influencers coming - I was so happy I had helped open those doors. A lot of them, to this day, come & thank me. It warms my heart. . I take it as an honor when people call me the original. I don’t say “oh nonono please” anymore. . So I want to say: enough minimizing ourselves. I’m not in this amazing book by chance. I created this. I’m proud. I am on to my next chapter, but having made a mark is a BIG DEAL. I was a woman with not much else than an eye & an ideal. . I still am - so I want to dedicate this post to all you who are struggling to find your voice and opening these bloody doors. . Guys, you got this. . Credits in coms ??
