Its just hitting me now 2011 in Akron they shamed & punished (jailed!) mom Kelley Williams Bolar for trying to provide her daughters with a better private school education. This is less of a “wait and see if this same sentence is handed down or not” and more of a “the system is broken” for access to upper echelon education

scjlwalker Posting a story about someone being unfairly treated should be fact checked first. This woman broke the law. You don’t like the law, fine. But this law is only part of the story. In the late 1990s the state of Ohio was forced to change their laws by the Supreme Court to allow for the fact that our socioeconomic system makes it nearly impossible for those in poverty to move literally or socioeconomically to better their kids education. The changes that came about as a result of the Supreme Court ruling is now known as Ohio Ed Choice. This woman had absolutely no reason not to try to take full advantage of this program. It is not lottery based and at no time has the state even used all the money the program has in its fund....meaning there’s plenty for all. She chose to break the law even though a system was in place that would have gained her an even greater advantage.

melissa_rose_k It’s so sickening and disgusting and sinister. The gross inequality in this country is on full display and it’s painful to watch because we actually live with the consequences of hundreds of years of institutional racism EVERY. SINGLE. DAY.

thesnappers Thank you for shining a light on this lady... She should never be shamed for what she did (in the face of such inequality); when asked about the current scandal, she shows such empathy... a good and decent woman.
