All the kids making us proud. Funny how simple it can be when your future is in danger and your soul hasn’t been bought by lobbyists!!! We ALL need to take a stand and secure a better future for the generations coming after us. Climate change is real and man made. Our actions have consequences... let’s make them positive ones. #climatestrike

Greta Thunberg doesn't like Italians, they make fun of her, they make us memes, they belittle her, they say she doesn't do anything, that she is maneuvered, etc. etc. And do you know why? I would like to say that it is because it is slamming in the face of the whole world that our uncivilized behavior and our spoiled lifestyle will definitely ruin the planet, after all the Italians have always been allergic to the rules and restrictions of any kind. So this could be an explanation, not a beautiful one, but still an explanation.
But unfortunately I fear it is worse than this: Italians don't like Greta because she is not pretty, she is not funny, she is not bimbominkiosa, she cares highly about how it looks, aesthetically and temperamentally, as it is sacrosanct to expect from every sixteen year old worthy of attention Here in Italy. Greta doesn't look like a miniature Kardashian, not even a miniature Ferragni, but not even a young intellectual who dresses in ethnic / chic / shabby / studied style as is used so much here. No, Greta doesn't care. It is itself. And this doesn't like it. In Italy you don't have to be a person but a character. Greta is always serious, she never says "shawl" or "beautiful uncle" on television, I assure you that she doesn't say it, not even in Swedish. And this is scary, it creates suspicion. They tried to explain this seriousness phenomenon with Asperger's syndrome of which Greta suffers. But the confusion has only increased, given that very few in Italy know what Asperger is. And it would be enough to go on vacation in any of the northern European countries to see that there are dozens of girls dressed and combed like this and with the serious face of Greta even without Asperger's.
They did everything to diminish it. They spread videos with cute little kids who collect garbage and say the same things about Greta, but more tender, more funny and better dressed. And they liked them, a lot!
They looked desperately for Grete homegrown, prettier and more photogenic and finally someone breathed a sigh of relief.
Because there is another reason not to love Greta, in Italy: have you noticed how the craze of protagonism has

@heylinda2018 here's an easy enough source: NASA: https://climate.nasa.gov/scientific-consensus/ "Multiple studies published in peer-reviewed scientific journals1 show that 97 percent or more of actively publishing climate scientists agree*: Climate-warming trends over the past century are extremely likely due to human activities. In addition, most of the leading scientific organizations worldwide have issued public statements endorsing this position." Lots of references on the site that you can check. Not even Trump and the Koch brothers were able to shut down NASA's telling the truth. This isn't debatable. Just like I won't debate whether the earth is round. This is real. I am not going to talk to you any more about this. Do some reading and leave the politics behind.

@heylinda2018 that you "haven't noticed any significant change in climate" shows your ignorance. You are confusing local weather with overall climate change. I am not a climate scientist but I work at a university and I have a doctorate in one of the social sciences. I understand experimental design and statistics. I know how to read scientific papers. And I have spoken to people in the field of climate science where I work. I know what the science says and climate change is real. If you choose to remain ignorant your children and grandchildren will pay the price as we have more extreme climate events in the years to come.

@heylinda2018 the only "propaganda" that is being spewed is by people like you who get their news from the right-wing media fueled by the interests of the wealthy and the oil industry. "Follow the money" and you will figure out who the real villains are. Not the 97% of scientists who know that climate change is a fact. They live on modest incomes. No, it is the Koch brothers and the oil and coal tycoons. If children are learning real science that says that climate change is real, that isn't propaganda. But what you are saying most definitely is.

@heylinda2018 my doctorate is in clinical psychology. No that isn't climate science but as i said my training helps me to understand how to evaluate research and to understand statistics. I'm not going to argue this with you further. If you have two master's degrees then you are choosing to be willfully ignorant that 97% of scientists around the world concur that climate change is real. I assume your willful ignorance comes from your political beliefs. Because they don't come from science. Good luck with keeping your head in the sand.

I am from Sweden. Proud to say my daughter took part in the strike. She and her friends took half day leave from lesson. Yesterday, they were told that they will face consequences from headmaster, probably detention. I told her dont be scared because they did the right thing. Told her I am very proud of her 💝💝👍💝💝
