It's hard to do so and maybe we'll never overcome them, but we can decrease and learn to control them. Ever since I remember I've been afraid of heights. Walking over a bridge, driving next to a canyon, taking a plane - for some people nothing scary, but for me it was. Over the years I learned to control my fear. That doesn't always work out and Jorg and I had to turn around and rappel several times because I freaked out, couldn't think rational anymore and couldn't handle the situation. But I can fight my fear more and more often. My strategy to do so is to bring an imaginary box with me. I force myself to not look outside that 2x2m box. It might sound crazy, but it makes me feel safer. All I want to say is that we are all afraid of something, but if we try really hard we can fight it!
