#WalterDeMaria: In his sculptures and installations, De Maria explored the relationship between the relative and the absolute. By arranging forms according to mathematical sequences, he worked at the intersections of Minimalism, conceptual art, and land art—drawing attention to the limits of gallery spaces and prioritizing bodily awareness.

De Maria’s “14-Sided Open Polygon” is emblematic of the artist’s exploration of the absolute. The stainless steel tetradecagon is currently on display in “Idea to Action to Object” at Gagosian, Grosvenor Hill. The exhibition is on view through March 23. Learn more via the link in our bio!
