The water at St. Balikuddembe primary school, where Alex and Teddy’s four-year-old twins go, is fetched by the kids and brought up here in small cans. They used to have a community well near the school, but after six months it stopped working. For a year, the 150 students have been walking to the other pump every morning. In school the children drink water that has not been boiled, and Teddy deworms her sons every three months so she doesn’t feel afraid of them getting sick.
