Michelle and I first made contact after I saw her in a photo at an early screening of #CrazyRichAsians hosted by @prabalgurung in NY. I was so moved by the support shown towards our film and I have since learned about the many ways in which she has been working to shift the status quo in the beauty industry. One example was her decision to ban the term "anti-aging" in the magazine in September 2017 (at the potential risk of alienating advertisers), challenging the long-reinforced idea that aging is something that women should be ashamed of. Happily, the risk paid off and Michelle was named Adweek's "Editor of the Year" in 2017 and Allure was named "Magazine of the Year".
