Shu Mai Dumplings 🥟🥟🥟⠀

These steamed dumplings are full of flavor and easy to prepare for guest at a party. My recipe yields about 20-25 dumplings.

Any type of stainless steel ,steam vessel will work on the stove. I use bamboo steamer set into wok.⠀
-⠀
Ingredients for Filling:⠀
💨1 pound - large peeled and deveined shrimp⠀
💨1 pound - ground chicken thigh or ground pork⠀
💨2 tablespoons - toasted sesame oil⠀
💨1/2 tablespoon - soy sauce or oyster sauce⠀
💨2 tablespoons peeled and grated fresh ginger⠀
💨5 - cloves garlic / minced⠀
💨4 - green onions, white part only / fine chopped⠀
💨2 - egg whites⠀
💨Juice of 1/2 lemon⠀
💨1 tablespoon - FlavorGod Garlic Lovers⠀
💨1 teaspoon - FlavorGod Pink Salt&Pepper⠀

💥Fish Roe (eggs) or / diced carrot if you ain't into roe⠀

Wrappers:⠀
🌱One - package square wonton wrappers⠀

🌱Napa cabbage leaves, for lining the steamer⠀

For the filling: I hand mixed filling but adding all ingredients to food processor is easier.⠀
In a food processor: add shrimp, chicken, sesame oil, soy sauce, ginger, garlic, green onions, egg whites, lemon juice and sprinkle in FlavorGod . Pulse ingredients until smooth, 3 to 5 times. Add filling to a bowl.⠀

Place wonton wrapper in hand and add about 1 tablespoon of the filling in the center of the wrapper. Fold and pleat as you gather the wrapping around the filling, leaving top of the filling uncovered. Gently tap dumpling on flat surface, flattening bottom and making a basket shape.⠀

Prepare steamer: whether stainless steel or bamboo steamer, line each tray with cabbage leaves (this will keep dumplings from sticking).⠀
Place shu mai in the cabbage-lined steamers and cover with the lid.⠀

Bring 1 to 2 inches of water to a boil in a large, wide pan(or wok). Set the steamer into middle of pan ( I used a wok). Continue to add water as needed during cooking process.⠀
Steam the dumplings until cooked through, 8 to 12 minutes.⠀
