In early spring, American woodcocks start grooving with ancient dancing rituals. They strut in order to stir up food and once darkness sets in, males perform a "sky dance" to woo potential mates. Found primarily on the eastern half of North America, listen for their "peent" calls near dawn and dusk in a forest or thicket. This one was spotted early in the morning at #Moosehorn National #WildlifeRefuge in Maine, showing off excellent dance moves that work with a number of songs.
