We are failing our children in so many ways. I’m not saying I have the answers to the gun debate in this country but when adults like Dana Loesh use their huge platforms to attack traumatized children and 18 year olds we need to have a serious discussion as a community, across all political lines, on why the condemnation wasn’t universal, swift and severe.

Step one we don’t need any gun that has more than 15 bullets.
Step two, if you want to own and be responsible for a deadly weapon, you have to go through the same training as the professionals. Even professionals make mistakes, but if a gun is around I want it to be them, not some guy who took 1, 8 hours class.
To hold on to government laws made by old white men for their own interest is insane to me. The government was designed in a way for the south to get slaves. That’s why in our country the people’s votes doesn’t determine who will run our country.

My children go to a Montessori I.B. school (extremely peaceful environment) and our town in Texas wanted to place a gun range exactly next to it because there was no zoning law against it....?! What's worse is that no one on the city council thought it was inappropriate. We would share a parking lot/the children's playground and library would hear the shots all day. Our culture in this country on guns is ludicrous.

@thomas_sadoski I saw the preview yesterday for the new John Wick. As much as I love Keanu Reeves how do we as actors take a stand against guns being so enticingly portrayed in film and television? After seeing the preview and the violence so sexy and full of energy, it left me so burdened. Am I turning into my mother or do we have any responsibility in this as what we take for work?

As a native south Floridian who raised my child in broward county this is absolutely heartbreaking. The act itself was horrific but no the aftermath is even more so. It just goes to show that even on the most publicized tragedies we are still not getting enough mental assistance for the survivors.

I can’t help but feel the very appropriate response by New Zealand post mass shooting was a big slap in the face for anyone in the US who has experienced something similar without zero action by our politicians. Our kids deserve better. This poor family and community has already endured so much.
