But beyond that I never had any connection or experience with any animals besides being bit and chased multiple times by dogs as a kid. Fast forward to marrying a self professed animal lover, she wore me down over the years and convinced me we needed a dog- and the domino effect brought cats, fish, chickens, ducks, alpacas, a goat a mini horse and now our own full size Rocky Mountain gaited horses. To say I ever saw myself being this person would be a complete lie...and I wouldn’t say even Brea was the one to convince me, if I’m being completely honest, the ones that changed me the most were our horses. They are the most profoundly spiritual and connected creatures I’ve ever witnessed. They have allowed me to love and be loved in a deeper way- that’s why when my friend @charles_post shared the story of the wild horses & burros trying to survive on public lands in a new film, “Horse Rich Dirt Poor”...I had a special interest. It’s one of the most complex issues I’ve seen in terms of conservation and the government. The most powerful statement of the whole short film was Charles’ reflection at the end “what I have seen is nobody is winning. Everyone is losing.” Especially these animals.
