Photo by Adam Ferguson @adamfergusonstudio | In early 2018 the Trump Administration announced that, in September 2019, it would end the temporary protected status (TPS) provided to over 200,000 Salvadorians who currently live and work legally in the U.S. Norena joined her husband in the U.S. five years after he left El Salvador. While she is undocumented, her husband is currently protected by his TPS status. Their children are “dreamers,” undocumented residents who accompanied their parents to the U.S. as young children and have grown up here.
