As the weekend approaches, are you feeling golden—like the golden lion tamarin (Leontopithecus rosalia)? The critter’s name comes from the lustrous color of its coat, along with its signature lion-like mane. Tamarins are small, squirrel-sized monkeys. Native to the Atlantic Forest that runs through Brazil, this social species spends much of its time in the tree canopy with family, which can include two to eight individuals. Group activities include grooming, huddling, wrestling, and foraging for fruit, insects, and small invertebrates.
