Alex Katz's paintings make us see the world the way he sees it — clear, crisp and up close. 'I want to paint only in the present tense' he says. Among his bright and bold landscapes, he painted this highly stylised self-portrait, complete with dark sports glasses and long sideburns.

For the first time, Katz' work is being shown in Carlisle, at @tulliehousemuseum. Catch the @artistrooms exhibition of work before 16 June.

mi.innamoro @kc29919102 he’s wearing sun glasses because when he was painting the picture of himself with oil paints and gloves on he was wearing glasses that looked quite a lot like that but not too similar as these are made of oil painting and his aren’t ? 🤔
