This is Mental Health Awareness Month...
An Adult With Bipolar Disorder and Possibly ADD
I could not give up
I could not give in
I could not let the devil win
I kept searching for answers
I just knew I wasn't "right"
Only God could help me take this plight
Mixed up and confused at times
I had to read and reread often to get the gist of things
Never knew why the bell didn't go off like for others, "ding"
Often unorganized and disoriented too
I kept turning around and around trying to get in place
I didn't know my mind was working overtime, not keeping the right pace
Often angy, and I yelled a lot
I really didn't understand my mind was telling me something was wrong
Sometimes sweet and nice, other times mean and crying...for so long
Being unpredictable was a challenge at times
Did not like it, had to stop it; I cared for people's feelings
Had to get help, 'cause I didn't want that level of dealing
I made good grades; somethings came easy
Other times I became overwhelmed trying to absorb the meanings
I can go on and on with this diagnosis of me
Just know I have FINALLY completed the pieces of 'HIS" puzzle-Yes, I have the VICTORY!!!

I am a Mental Health Advocate who’s currently going to after my Master’s Degree in Public Admin w/ Criminal Justice because there are so many of black ppl who are treated unfairly by the system overall. Blacks are judged as being criminals instead of having real mental illnesses and are automatically thrown into jail-white people who do the same thing are assumed mentally ill and sent to the mental hospital and never put in jail. It’s time for someone to take a stand against this! Also black ppl are not given a voice or help due to the stigma that they are the strong ones when actually, they are the ones who are suffering from this hateful world. And I for one cannot blame them. BLM so does BLMHM

@tarajiphenson thank you for this! Far too many people are suffering in silence and it needs to stop NOW. The stigma associated with mental illness is unwarranted and people need to feel comfortable with seeking the help they need.
