Form follows function – this year, the Bauhaus celebrates its 100th anniversary. Founded by architect Walter Gropius in 1919, the Bauhaus is easily the most influential Modernist art and design school in history.

Known for developing a distinctive, modern style built on the principle of simplicity, designers and architects across Europe and the United States worked to create objects and spaces that were both aesthetic, and readily available to the mass public.

Simple and stripped down to their essential elements, designs such as the 1924 Tea Infuser by German artist, Marianne Bradt’s and the 1929 Barcelona Chair by Bauhaus director Ludwig Mies van Der Rohe created in collaboration with architect Lilly Reich are lasting examples of the iconic movement. #rimowaplaces
