Saw that yesterday’s post sparked a bit of controversy. About Smoothie going outside for the first time. It’s the classic indoor vs outdoor discussion. I think there are benefits as well as drawbacks on both sides of the story. In our apartment it was simply not possible to let the cats outside. Their safety always comes first. Were they unhappy about this? I don’t think so. On the other side, one of the reasons to move house was for the cats to be able to go outside. Please note that they still only can go in the garden, under supervision. I wouldn’t sleep if my cats would be on the streets. This is clearly different for every person. Circumstances are always different. And so are cats. There are so many wilder, more adventurous cats than Smoothie & Milkshake. Cats that need space. But one of the reasons I’ve chosen British Longhair cats is that they are well-known to be happy indoors. So that’s in short why it was her first time outside.
