Photo by Adam Ferguson @adamfergusonstudio | In early 2018 the Trump Administration announced that, in September 2019, it would end the temporary protected status (TPS) provided to over 200,000 Salvadorians who currently live and work legally in the U.S. Jesus Silva came to the U.S. more than 20 years ago to escape poverty and a lack of job opportunities in El Salvador, he says. A single father of four U.S.-born children, he supports them by working in construction. He is allowed to live and work legally in the U.S. as a TPS holder. That status could be in jeopardy if the Trump Administration ends the TPS designation for Salvadorans.
