You may not know this, but sport climbing, otherwise known as “free climbing;” not to be confused with “free soloing,” involves clipping your rope into metal “quick-draws” that are anchored by bolts in the wall. If you fall, you pendulum into your rope, secured by your previous point on the wall, at your last draw. Who puts the bolts into the wall? The person who establishes the line. It’s an arduous feat of manual labor and I have a lot of gratitude for the people who endure this process. It opens new possibilities within our sport to climb more lines and is an art form in of itself. I am excited to be learning more about bolting, now taking off on a trip with @kevin__capps @レッドブル to open the door to more climbing in the south east.

pattison.roger Probz stupid question but whenever I see your videos you're clipping into quick draws that are already there. Is your team already placing the draws before your climb?

shortridge.evan People are always like “don’t free climb it’s dangerous!” And I get so pissed Im like “That’s what I do every hecking day.”
