At 6:01pm CST, 51 years ago today Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was shot. He passed at 7:05pm CST at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Memphis. I’ve had the honor of standing in the Lorraine Motel hotel room and on the balcony in the exact place he was shot. Because he did so much, what many of us fail to realize is how young this great leader was. He was young and full of life! He was literally on the first half of his leadership journey. In the face of horrific racism and possible death and bodily harm to himself and his family, he smiled and made others laugh and told jokes. A beautiful, intelligent YOUNG Black man, who was also a leader and a planner and strategically brilliant and a tireless worker for social and economic justice.
Thank you Dr. King.
May we continue your work.

I’m thankful for Dr. King as I learned about him he was a man of integrity a man of justice a man who believed in equal rights, love and peace. A non- violent man but today some people don’t realize what he went through to make things right for all man kind today we are killing one another jealous of another don’t want help each other or stand together as one etc: the point is we as people should not let his hard work and what others went through not to be in vain. Dr. King won the battle we as a people got to continue until we when the WAR. Today he is still my inspiration Today I know I can and I will not let no one tell me no different we all have choices as long as one make the right choice life can be good. Thank you for sharing this I got caught up the way I feel on the inside. Much Love ❤️

@trillbabeshun actually #lincoln established freedom for all and it cost him his life. #mlk and #jfk both supported equality of all and fought through the 60’s, both Assassinated as they were pro-life and pro-gun. Did not fit the political spectrum of the left. Ever notice how every politician that or political spirit that has perished was anti segregation, pro life, pro gun and small government. Who do you think is responsible? I’d sure like them files opened up.

@hillharper "Some people never die, you know why? Because their words ecoe in our souls and hearts. Therefore, it doesn't matter that stupid people wanted to shut up the Dr. King's mouth, his thoughts shout in me, in you and in beautiful and conscious minds. White people, black people... Not! Enough! Just people. Only humankind, I mean, human and kind. We were born to be bamboo and oak, resilient and strong. It's not a simple ax that will break us down."

MLK inspires me to help my fellow human on a daily basis. He inspires me to teach my children to do the same. So very well said, sir! On a completely unrelated note, I was pleasantly surprised that you were co-hosting American History Tellers and the coverage of the Chicago 1968 riots. Wonderful so far!
