Prove myself worthy to represent my country. People commented on how miserable I looked throughout my career, how I was too serious, how I was running out of time to punch my ticket to Beijing, how I needed to be more aggressive in my gymnastics, how I was inconsistent, how I lacked confidence, how I wasn’t strong enough or brave enough. I’ve spent more time in second place, runner up, alternate than any other position in my life. But I’m slowly learning that perfection is overrated. That I’d rather be real than perfect. I struggle with being here and now. I run, quite literally, from place to place. I analyze the past. I overthink the present. I question the future. I think in black and white. I am stubborn. I’m impatient. I’m an extroverted introvert. Yet I believe in serendipity. I believe that what’s meant to be, will always find its way. I believe most that every single person on this earth deserves to believe in and know their worth, without having to prove it. That every person deserves to be acknowledged. Deserves to be happy. Deserves to find joy. Deserves to be loved. Every single day. I wish to remind you that you are worthy. You are everything you need to be. You are loved today, tomorrow, and forever. You are perfectly imperfect. Teaching through movement has pushed me to appreciate the able body that I have beyond competition. More than that, it’s the opportunity I’m granted to connect with others, bring smiles to their faces, share an hour of mind-body connection, to provide a reminder that they are so, so strong, and a place that has brought me friendships I hold so dearly. To share this joy through movement with you, look out for some free community classes at @barre3menlopark in support of @afspnational 💗🌻Link in bio. First free class is tomorrow at 5:45pm, co-taught with the one and only @brookiecarson 👯‍♀️」4月5日 23時02分 - insidegym
