ミーシャ・ジャネットさんのインスタグラム写真 - (ミーシャ・ジャネットInstagram)「Eat (dik). Pray (dik). Love (dik). Having a spiritual moment at the #penisfestival today. Nothing in Japan “shocks” me anymore, and today was no exception; just some good old fashioned tradition. . Originally it is called the Kanamara Matsuri, after the name of the neighborhood & kanayama shrine. . Today, getting into this shrine meant waiting upwards of 3 or more hours. Why would anyone actually wait that long?? Because the festival is actually for blessing marriage, fertility and birth. So while the tourists wanted in just to buy some dik, the japanese people were possibly trying to get blessed for fertility. With all the tourism, it’s easy to forget the religious meaning behind these festivals. . What’s more, the area was home to a lot of prostitutes and brothels, and women and men would come to the shrine secretly in the night to pray for warding off stds. To make it easier to pray, the shrine created the festival for daytime so people could be blessed without discrimination. . Now, the “penis festival” features a parade that anyone can watch, raises money for aids charities, and includes LGBTQ groups (the pink penis omikoshi “Elizabeth” is carried by men and women who are required to swap “genders” in appearance). . It was a lot of good family fun. Tho I think the reason why most people make the trek is summed up nicely in the last pic; all for the ‘gram. Thanks to @celiamassimi for the pics ;) . #かなまら祭り #penisfestival2019 #japanesefestival #hellojapan #weirdjapan #japantourist #weirdbutfabulous」4月7日 22時19分 - mishajanette
