We are excited to announce that The Duke of Sussex and Oprah Winfrey are partners, co-creators and executive producers on their forthcoming mental health series launching on Apple in 2020. The pair have been developing the series for several months and are looking forward to sharing such an important project on this global platform.
The dynamic multi-part documentary series will focus on both mental illness and mental wellness, inspiring viewers to have an honest conversation about the challenges each of us faces, and how to equip ourselves with the tools to not simply survive, but to thrive.
This commitment builds on The Duke of Sussex’s long-standing work on issues and initiatives regarding mental health, where he has candidly shared personal experience and advocated for those who silently suffer, empowering them to get the help and support they deserve.
His Royal Highness has spent many years working with communities throughout the UK and young people across the Commonwealth to break the stigma surrounding mental illness and broaden the conversation of mental wellness to accelerate change for a more compassionate, connected and positive society.
Quote from HRH: “I truly believe that good mental health - mental fitness - is the key to powerful leadership, productive communities and a purpose-driven self. It is a huge responsibility to get this right as we bring you the facts, the science and the awareness of a subject that is so relevant during these times. Our hope is that this series will be positive, enlightening and inclusive - sharing global stories of unparalleled human spirit fighting back from the darkest places, and the opportunity for us to understand ourselves and those around us better. I am incredibly proud to be working alongside Oprah on this vital series.”

@sussexroyal thank you so much, Your Royal Highnesses, for addressing a worldwide issue with the dignity and respect that those of us who struggle with this crave! I think the whole world ached with you when you and your brother tragically lost your Mum at such young ages! Those of us who had already experienced a loss of a loved one knew that it would be a tough road ahead and knew what you were struggling with even if it wasn't voiced, yet. When you two revealed exactly how tough it had been and with the additional stress of having to do so quite publicly on occasion, I was so grateful for the validation of the impact grief can have on your mental health. It was as if your mother had spoken from beyond and asked you to be as honest and forthcoming as she had been because each generation needs their peers to own the struggle and make it clear that as long humans possess the most complex minds there are going to be breakdowns that lead to breakthroughs in the arena of mental health and wellness! I appreciate the your work, your support and your assistance in removing stigmas and stereotypes more than words can say!

Bravo to you & Oprah for choosing this important issue that has been overlooked for far too long!!! I have written a book entitled “ A Mosaic of Madness” which is a trilogy comprised of 7 stories of 7 highly creative people - three of them veterans who fought fervently in the wars of our time - visual artists - rappers - singers -multi- instrumentalists- poets who all have had the descent into the darkness & are valiantly to this day clawing their way back into the light I would love to present their stories to you in an effort to show others that the mind bleeds just as as an open wound —only mental illness unfortunately is a hidden wound due to stigma & unjust laws that make those who suffer from these brilliant Madness hide among the shadows of the night. Peace & ?

Thank you for bringing awareness for such a sensitive subject. So many suffering with mental health issues in silence, your bringing in it to such awareness that holds no shame is amazing. No longer will well have family members suffer in the shadows. Thank you your HRH.
