A super in-depth exhibition probing four of the key looks from the brilliant @アレキサンダー・マックイーン SS19 collection
All on display at their new-ish Old Bond St flagship store (itself a treat if you’ve ever been mesmerised by the net of butterflies cascading down the double height window)
From the Ophelia wedding dress to a Victorian funeral black collaged ensemble to a black and white Lyon lace christening gown to the painted leather armour with hook and eye knit.

It’s all there broken down into physical fragments of inspiration ephemera - moodboards, vintage source pieces, key Lee McQueen pieces (Voss! Chess! Sarabande!), sketches, paper machetes, calico toiles, embroidery trials and then the final outfits themselves.
You can’t officially apply the appellation of haute couture in McQueen’s instance but essentially it is. Devastatingly good. Go whilst it’s still on as it’s open to the public on the top floor of the store. Ends in July but another exhibition will follow immediately after.
