Is this the pinnacle of performance art or a gimmick detracting from the spirit of surfing? It’s been called both but the straight-up fun and the utter bedlam of this clip (of @ilovetables and the @volcomsurf team) was exactly what we were looking for when we floated The Dock a few years back in Bali.
We’re doing it again very soon. The goal? The same as always: To create something iconic to arrest your scrolling thumb, something that stands the test of time. This time we hope to master the running step-off to split peak tube ride: one natural footed surfer going right, the other goofy footed going left.
This game of surf media and media in general is a challenged one. Stab frames itself as a modern media company but in reality we’re just a few gypsies in offices between Sydney and LA trying to work it out as we go. We do some surf comps in pools, we throw parties, we make (too many) films and we cover breaking news but we’re most comfortable when we’re creating shit like this.
