The Notre Dame cathedral, one of Paris’s most recognizable landmarks, burned on Monday evening. The spire on the 13th century structure fell and the roof was destroyed, but many other features — like the famous rose windows, the great organ, and the twin bell towers — were saved. Firefighters are battled for more than nine hours to extinguish the blaze. The cause of the fire is not immediately known, but the President of the Ile-de-France region says it was accidental.
