Vogue Runwayさんのインスタグラム写真 - (Vogue RunwayInstagram)「With a selection of personal and commissioned works, photographer Tyler Mitchell's (@tylersphotos) first solo show, "I Can Make You Feel Good," will open on April 19 at @Foam_Amsterdam. The exhibit brings the young African-American experience into the frame with intimate photographs of Mitchell's creative community bathed in the same golden light and color as the distinctive fashion photography he has become known for. The exhibit will also feature two new video installations, projected on the ceiling of the museum gallery space as a chorus of black voices plays in the background. “The audio was crowdsourced on social media. I asked friends and family—all people of the African diaspora—to share instances in which they were made to feel less than because of their race,” explains Mitchell. “The viewer is invited to sit underneath the footage and look up at the black kids enjoying seemingly mundane activities. Historically, black people were not captured from below in cinema, so as not to appear heroic—you can see that in films like Birth of a Nation. I wanted to reverse that and create this relaxing effect where you’re lying down, where the images are washing over you,” he says, before pausing for a moment. “I think that is feeling good.” Tap the link in our bio for more details.
