Some facts.. there are almost 140,000 Asian public school students in NYC, more than all the students in Boston and San Francisco combined. 1 in 3 live in homes where no one over 14 speaks any English. 1 in 2 is born into poverty. 1 in 4 doesn't graduate on time if at all. And despite Asians making up 13% of NYC's population, less than 1% of city funding goes to charities focused on the Asian community. These statistics may be surprising to some, in part because of the "model minority" myth but they underline just how vital @apexforyouth mentorship programmes are.
